Khadija Saye: Following A Fleeting Star
Royal Monastery of St Mary of Pedralbes, Barcelona, Spain
6th February - 31st May 2026
This exhibition was the first attempt at a global retrospective, and the first presentation of Khadija’s work in Spain. It was developed despite the irreparable loss of much of her legacy in the Grenfell Tower fire on 14th June 2017, in which Saye died with her mother and more than seventy others. This tragic event also gives the exhibition a symbolic dimension: Saye’s figure prompts reflection on the fragility and unpredictability of artistic recognition.
Her work reveals the coherence of a brief yet intense search that links intimate experience with universal questions. This exhibition looked to open doors, as she herself did in her time in Venice, and to offer a global perspective on a promising young woman who, like a shooting star, left an indelible mark as an artist and as a person deeply committed to her community.
